Compliance with the WEEE Directive / The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive, which came into force in July 2007, is EC legislation that requires all producers (manufacturers and importers) to take responsibility for treating & recycling their products at the end of their useful life.

As per The Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, all producers of lighting equipment should be registered with an approved compliance scheme. Illuma, as part of the Searchlight Electric Group, is a member of Valpak (www.valpak.co.uk), who are part of Reconomy, the international circular economy specialist.

Our duties as a producer is to finance the recycling of waste electrical equipment when we make new products available.

Via Valpak, Illuma has put in place a comprehensive system for the collection and disposal of our non-household lighting equipment.
